About

best yoga teacher

Hi, my name is Pragya Bhatt.  I’m a yoga and Vedanta teacher.

I’ve been practicing yoga regularly since 2009. I started my practice with Power Yoga and eventually discovered the Iyengar style of yoga, to which I’ve been faithful for the last decade or so.

In 2012 I obtained a Yoga Instructors’ Certification from SVYASA (Swamy Vivekananda Yoga Anusadhana Samsthana), and started teaching yoga.  In 2020 I was handpicked by Smt. Subhadra Devi, a Vedanta guru, to receive the teachings of Vedanta in the traditional guru-shishya style.  This experience has further deepened my insight into the philosophy of yoga as it is applicable to daily life.

In 2022 I completed an MSc in Yoga.  In 2023, with my teacher’s blessings, I started teaching Vedanta as well.

In 2023 I became pregnant for the first time and delivered a healthy baby girl in March 2024.  My difficult conception journey followed by a healthy pregnancy and postpartum experience have shown me the need and importance of yoga for women.  It prompted me to dig deeper into women’s health and how yoga can support the pregnancy journey.  I also conduct pre and post natal yoga classes for women.

I conduct online yoga and Vedanta classes.  I offer group and private classes, international trainings and retreats. Some of my class recordings are available on my Youtube channel.

I am also the author of two books:

I’ve completed my schooling from various international schools and a B.Tech in Computer Engineering. In a time that seems like centuries ago, I worked with Infosys Technologies Ltd (as a Software Engineer) and later on with Accenture Pvt. Ltd (as a Team Lead for their Mobilization Team). I worked for eight years before finally hanging up her business suit.

I continue to deepen my practice under the guidance of noted teachers, predominantly in the Iyengar lineage, and my teaching is heavily influenced by it. I reside in Bangalore, India with my husband Animesh Jain and our new baby.  I am currently on maternity leave and will be back to teaching in October 2024.

I was born in New Delhi and grew up around the world with my parents who were in the Indian Foreign Service.  A quintessential third-culture kid (TCK), I grew up with an appreciation for cultures, languages and travel.  I have a special interest in history and culture, and this has taken me to various temples in India. I frequently blog about my travels. In pic: Vrikshasana at the Chennakeshwara Temple, Belur.
