May the 4th (Be With You) 🙂

Today we worked on hip openers and used different props like blocks, sofas, stools, blankets and pillows. Follow along and see how close you can get to the hanumanasana.

I try to make the last class of the week something to remember. Today we worked with crow and side crow ie bakasana and parsva bakasana as our peak poses. To get to them we had to wake up the abdominal muscles and access our upper body strength. Happy to see so many students push their boundaries to fly. Try it today.

April 29, 2020 - The Yoga Nidra Edition

Today we had the good fortune of having Medha Bhaskar, master teacher from Amrutha Bindu Yoga, lead us through a relaxing yoga nidra session.

As old as yoga itself, yoga nidra is first spoken about in the Upanishads. It is a practice of clarity done in the state between sleep and wakefulness. The mind, in this state, is hyper-receptive and malleable. In yoga nidra, the conscious mind is disengaged; it’s resistance and bias is dropped. As the brain enters the half-alpha state of activity, the sub-conscious and unconscious mind open up. When we become free from what’s coloring our perceptions, infinite possibilities open up.

April 27, 2020

We’re almost at the end of the month.  There are many students who have joined us from the beginning of this month (post lock down) and it is so gratifying to see them doing well, improving their postures, being disciplined and focused with their practice.  Today we worked on shoulder opening, and it’s safe to say your shoulders will be screaming after this routine.  Let me know! 🙂

Stay tuned for the special guest in our next class!

April 24th, 2020

Today we awoke to the most beautiful weather. It was cool and breezy with a hint of rain in the air. Towards the end of my first class it started pouring…and with that the power went off! After about 10 minutes, we logged in and started class. Today’s class was to warm up the body dynamically and then work on opening the hips.

April 22th, 2020

Today we worked on lengthening the sides and saw how the ‘ardha’ asanas are more difficult than the ‘poorna’ asanas. Also, there’s a small challenge in the middle of the class and you should definitely try it out.

April 20th, 2020

This morning we worked on easy breezy backbends and saw how we can bend back carefully, without causing injury.  We’re using blocks and a belt in this session.  Don’t just watch, practice along!

April 17th, 2020

Today we worked on hip opening and included a lot of standing asanas in the routine.  Practice along!

Yoga Fundraiser for COVID Relief

From April 6-11 I was a part of a fundraiser to raise money to support daily wage workers impacted by the Corona virus.  6 of us got together and organised a yoga festival of sorts.  From Mon-Sat each of us did a FREE yoga class on Instagram live.  This was my class.  You can actually practice along.  Enjoy!
